Amway To Cut 93 Jobs In North America, Move Functions To Costa Rica
The company didn't mention that in a statement announcing the job cuts in North America. Instead, company leaders emphasized that they would work to minimize the impact of the cuts. They say they hope to use early retirements and transfers to limit the number of layoffs.
Amway spokesman Rob Zeiger says the company hopes to save money by transferring some of its finance operations to Costa Rica.
A confidential company memo published last month in the Grand Rapids Press says central Europe and Asia may also pick up some of the finance work now being handled in other areas.
