Michigan Congressman Glad President Has Ordered Fort Hood Intelligence Review
Congressman Pete Hoekstra says he's glad President Obama has ordered an immediate inventory of all intelligence files relevant to last week's shootings at Fort Hood.
The alleged shooter may have had a connection to a radical Islamic cleric. A connection that was apparently known by government intelligence agencies.
Republican Hoekstra has been critical of the Democratic administration for how it has responded to questions about the reasons behind the shooting rampage that killed 13 people.
"The bottom line is, this is about a transparent investigation of what happened at Fort Hood," says Hoekstra, "And, the administration has been less than forthright in sharing with Congress and sharing with the American people what they knew and when they knew it." Hoekstra himself has been criticized by people who suggest he leaked information about spying on a controversial Islamic cleric. The west Michigan Congressman insists he's said nothing that was not already being reported in the news media.
Hoekstra says he and other members of the House Intelligence Committee will be briefed on the Fort Hood shootings next week.
