(Michigan Radio) -

Final seal auction bids are due at 4pm for the Pontiac Silverdome.

The aging football stadium has sat largely vacant for the past 7 years. Pontiac city leaders have tried and failed in the past to find a buyer for the Silverdome.

The problem in the past has been few qualified buyers have offered to buy the stadium.

"On average, for us, the average number of bidders that have been participating in our auctions have actually grown year over year," says Amy Bates, senior vice president for marketing with Williams and Williams, the company handling the Silverdome auction.

The city of Pontiac spends more than a million dollars a year to maintain the Silverdome.

The governor appointed an emergency financial manager to oversee Pontiac's city government earlier this year.
