FBI: Raid Targets Not Linked to Mainstream Islam
Luqman Ameen Abdullah and 11 others were charged with crimes including theft, and the illegal possession and sale of firearms.
Charging documents link the men to a radical Muslim organization. But Special Agent Andrew Arena says the group in no way resembles mainstream Islam. Arena also defended the agency's use of undercover informants - who provided much of the information that led to the charges.
"We do not target buildings, we do not target religious institutions," Arena said. "We have to have predication to send an informant or a source into any location, and the predication is that there's bad things going on."
The complaint says Abdullah preached violent, anti-government ideas. But none of the men is charged with terrorism.
