Governor Vetoes Part of Education Budget
Some of the 39 districts get more than $11,000 a year per student. They'll now be more in line with the basic foundation grant unless lawmakers override her veto.
The cut will cost those districts $51.6 million. School aid payments are to go out Tuesday.
The Democratic governor says unless lawmakers raise more money for schools, districts could see more than the $165 per student reduction included in the bill she signed.
That move could come soon if the state treasurer this week indicates reduced revenue will mean a bigger shortfall in the school aid fund.
