The Future of The Standish Maximum Correctional Facility? ROCHESTER, MI (Associated Press) - This month's scheduled shutdown of the Standish Maximum Correctional Facility and the loss of its 300 jobs has supporters and opponents of housing Guantanamo Bay inmates busy.

Officials in Au Gres and Arenac County wary of the closing's economic impact passed resolutions last week supporting the transfer of the detainees to Standish, about 150 miles north of Detroit. The Standish City Council is expected to vote on a similar resolution Thursday.

But opponents will hold a forum near Detroit on Monday night to remind the public that moving the detainees to Standish would bring the area unwelcome prominence.
