Ecorse Officials Indicted for Corruption
Ecorse Mayor Herbert Worthy and Controller Erwin "Earl" Hollenquest were arrested last week.
Today's federal indictment says Worthy took cash bribes in exchange for awarding a contract to a campaign supporter.
Kerry McCafferty is with the Detroit office of the FBI.
"You see multiple things here where vehicles were given, large amounts of cash," McCafferty says. "It's sort of disturbing when you see that somebody has the public trust and is taking advantage of that position."
Lawyers for Worthy and Hollenquest say they will fight the charges.
The indictment also names Sheldon Divers, an owner of Michigan Municipal Services, who is charged with conspiracy and money laundering.
