20,000 People, 100,000 Paper Planes, 1 Melody
GRAND RAPIDS, MI
(Michigan Radio) -
A rainbow of nearly 100,000 airplanes fell from the rooftops yesterday in downtown Grand Rapids, and an estimated 20,000 people came out to watch.
Many of them also brought musical instruments, and the notation of a single melody from a song called "Olsen Olsen", by the Icelandic band Sigur Ros.
It was all organized by a 20-year-old college student named Rob Bliss.
Michigan Radio's Dustin Dwyer sent in this audio postcard of the event, including comments from Bliss himself.
