Healthy Hospital Food
Van Grinsven says food has traditionally been healing and medicinal. He says if people are healthier, health care costs will go down. The hospital plans to create a culinary learning institute for health care. The institute will teach other health care systems how to cook and serve healthier food to patients.

Gerard van Grinsven is the president and CEO of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. He says serving chemical-free, nutritious food is one way to begin dealing with the obesity epidemic. "So we felt very strong to be very pro-active as a health care system in addressing obesity, and the first thing that came to mind was food."Van Grinsven says food has traditionally been healing and medicinal.
