Bing Lays Off Bus Drivers, Cuts Bus Schedule
Bing said there will also be changes to the city's bus schedule, but he assured everyone that buses will still run on the weekends.
"The bottom line is we can't continue to operate routes that are 90% empty hour after hour, day after day."
In addition to the bus layoffs, Bing has sent pink slips to more than 1,000 city employees.
Bing says all layoffs will go into effect September 26th if unions don't agree to deep wage cuts.
