Michigan's State Fair: A Look Back ANN ARBOR, MI (Michigan Radio) - The Michigan State Fair opened today, just as it has for the last 160 years. This year might be the last year for the oldest state fair in the nation. Attendance has been declining and the fair has been losing money for years, now the state subsidy that has been keeping the fair afloat has been cut.
