(Michigan Radio) -

This weekend's NASCAR race is expected to draw one hundred thousand spectators to the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Track officials say attendance has been hurt by the recession.

Patty Courier says her friends and family always plan on spending NASCAR weekends at MIS, despite the hard economic times.

"We've been coming for 20 years," says Courier, "And there's twice a year that we know we're going to spend big money. And its NASCAR. Both weekends of NASCAR. We come. Period. Even if we've got nothing else to do. We come to NASCAR."

Speedway officials hope attendance will grow as Michigan's economy turns the Corner.
