Registration Deadline Looms For ArtPrize
In late September and early October more than 100 galleries, public parks, private businesses and museums in downtown Grand Rapids will host work from ArtPrize artists.
Organizers say the top cash prize of 250 thousand dollars is the biggest in the art world.
Kevin Buist is one of those organizers. He says interest in the competition has picked up over the summer, and that's drawn in more high profile artists from the community.
"So now we're seeing all these people that have already made a name for themselves, either in the market, or in the regional art world in general starting to realize that this is going to be huge and I want to be a part of it," Buist says.
But to be a part of the competition artists must first register and pay a $50 fee no later than midnight on July 31st.
