Ann Arbor News Closes After 174 Years
ANN ARBOR, MI
(Michigan Radio) -
It's cold, wet and dreary out today. Which seems fitting, given the mood around the table at a local bar where a group of now-former Ann Arbor News employees have gathered.
"I'm Bruce Martin. I was a copy editor up until today, and before that I used to be the entertainment editor at the News."
Martin worked at the News for about 17 years. He says a lot of things about print news will be missed, but he thinks a viable news website is possible.
"Once that formula is found, the kind of journalistic experience that most of my colleagues have developed will be useful in that kind of format."
The News is being replaced by the online news site AnnArbor.Com, which is set to go live Friday. About a dozen employees from the paper have been hired there. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
