Cold Case Arrest in Kalamazoo ALLEGEN, MI (Associated Press) -
Authorities in southwestern Michigan say they've arrested a suspect in the rape and slaying of a woman whose partially nude body was found in April 1993 in the Kalamazoo River.

The Allegan County sheriff's department says 45-year-old Van Buren Hutchison was arrested Friday in Indiana.

The Grand Rapids Press reports authorities recently reopened the investigation into Jeanette Reeves' death and asked for help finding Hutchison. WOOD-TV reports tips from the public led to his arrest.

A message seeking information on whether Hutchison had a lawyer was left with the department.

The woman's body was found in the river in a remote section of the Allegan State Game Area. Her wrists were bound. She was in her late 20s when reported missing from the Chicago area in 1992.
