Chrysler Restarts Assembly Plants
(2009-06-29)
(Michigan Radio) -

Chrysler assembly lines are moving again in southeast Michigan and elsewhere.

Chrysler plants in Sterling Heights, Warren, Windsor, Toledo and in three other cities are returning to the business of building cars and trucks.

The factories have been idled for the past few months, as Chrysler has passed through bankruptcy court.

The restart will be short. Most of the facilities will be shutdown for summer retooling next month.

Michael Robinet, vice president of global vehicle forecasting with C-S-M Worldwide, says, "There are a number of intervening factors why they would want a short two week start up to work out any bugs."

Robinet says the restart will give Chrysler's new managers a chance to evaluate the automakers supply chain and check for any quality issues.
