Kalamazoo To Celebrate 125th Birthday
Kalamazoo city leaders are planning a number of celebrations throughout the year, but it starts this evening with short speeches by the mayor and others. Photos from the city's history will also be on display.
Jerri Barnett-Moore is Kalamazoo's deputy city manager. She says Kalamazoo has managed to reinvent itself throughout its history.
"And we're using what we've learned in the past to continue to build and become stronger, become a stronger and better community," Barnett-Moore says.
She says Kalamazoo has transformed from a city that made paper, to a city that made auto parts, to a city that does pharmaceutical research.
