Steve Jenkins, former director, Michigan State Fair

The head of the Michigan State Fair has quit.
Steve Jenkins says he's resigning to protest the governor's plan to eliminate state funding for the 160 year old state fair.
The fair has lost money and attendance for years.
The state covered the 360 thousand dollars the fair lost in 2008.
Governor Granholm says the state should not be subsidizing the fair, as Michigan struggles with a one point 6 billion dollar budget deficit. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Radio
