Fieger acquitted on campaign finance charges
(2008-06-03)
(Michigan Public Radio Network) - Attorney Geoffrey Fieger and law partner Ven Johnson have been found not guilty on all charges of violating campaign finance laws. The pair was accused by the federal government of illegally funneling $127,000 to John Edwards' 2004 presidential campaign. Fieger and Johnson were indicted by a federal grand jury in August. The government alleged that Fieger directly reimbursed employees of his law firm if they gave to the Edwards' campaign. If convicted, Fieger could have spent up to 15-years in federal prison. © Copyright 2012, Michigan Public Radio Network
