DMC Announces Children's Hospital Expansion
The new stand-alone pediatric center will be across the street from Children's Hospital of Michigan.
Doctor Herman Gray is president of Children's Hospital. He says the new center will take the strain off the hospital - which has seen a steep increase in patients in recent years.
"We serve more children at this hospital than at any other hospital in the state of Michigan," said Gray. "So while this is a great thing for the kids of the city of Detroit, this building will have an impact on children who are served by this hospital - which is children in this entire region."
Construction is expected to begin in 2009. The building is scheduled to open in 2010.
