Aerotropolis One Step Closer To Reality
The 20,000 acre site is being called Aerotropolis.
Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano said Aerotropolis will draw businesses that want to move their products quickly.
"Aerotropolis really comes out of a changing of the paradigm of how we look at airports in the United States," said Ficano. "With the global economy now, things are no longer location, location, location. It's speed, speed, and speed."
Ficano said officials are targeting auto manufacturers and cargo and freight corporations. But he said the project could expand to include recreational and commercial uses.
