Tucsonans commemorate Dr. King's legacy. KXCI was pleased to honor the legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of special programming featuring excerpt from his speeches, music, and community voices.

For 23 years, the Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association has hosted a Martin Luther King Breakfast to raise money for scholarships for local students at the Holmes Tuttle Boys and Girls club. This year's event took place on January 19th, 2013.

On January 16, 2013, the Martin Luther King Tucson Celebration Committee hosted its 27th Annual Drum Major Awards Luncheon. The Drum Major Instinct is a famous sermon given by King to encourage people to use the instinct to be important to be a drum major for positive change such as justice, peace or righteousness.
