30 Minutes- SB 1070 Two Years Later Sign at State Building in Tucson. Amanda Shauger
Opposition continues two years after the passage of SB 1070. Local human rights activists gathered at the Arizona State Building in Tucson on Wednesday, April 25th, 2 years after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law. Meanwhile the Supreme Court was hearing arguments on SB 1070 to determine whether provisions blocked by Federal Judge Susan Bolton would remain standing. Critics of the bill say it legalizes racial profiling. The bill's proponents say that Arizona's law helps support federal law.

Speakers include Larry Trenton and Mary Goethals of Tucson Samaritans, Joe Bernick from the May 1st Coalition, Raśl Al-qaraz Ochoa from Corazon de Tucson, Maria Eugenia Carasco from Derechos Humanos, Marisa Parra, Leila Pines from No More Deaths, Dora Peralta from Border Action Network, Cesar Lopez from Tierra y Libertad, Nancy Gallen from the May 1st Coalition; and attorney Isabel Garcia from the May 1st Coalition speaking at a press conference at Armory Park later in the week.
