30 Minutes- Basta Dobbs Rally; Sky Island Alliance Dinner 30 Minutes features remarks made at Tucson's Basta Dobbs Rally and at the Sky Island Alliance Dinner. by Amanda Shauger Tucson, AZ On Wednesday, October 21, activists in 18 cities staged protests against CNN Lou Dobb's removal from their airwaves. Protesters say that Lou Dobbs, more than any other media personality, is responsible for spreading myths and misinformation about immigrants and Latinos.

The protests were planned to coincide with CNN's two part series Latinos in America. Local attorney Isabel Garcia was featured in Soledad O'Brien's report and she also debated Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Anderson Cooper immediately following Latinos in America. Garcia's remarks were heavily edited by Cooper's producers.

I went to the Tucson Basta Dobbs rally at El Tiradito Shrine. Speakers include: Isabel Garcia of Derechos Humanos, Father Bob Carney of No More Deaths, Sean Arce of Tucson Unified School District's Raza Studies, Sebastian Quinac of Tucson Samaritans and Lynda Cruz reading a statement from Wingspan.

In the second part of the show, 30 Minutes features Sergio Avila-Villegas speaking at the Sky Island Alliance dinner held this past Thursday. Sergio is a wildlife biologist and outreach specialist for the grassroots organization which is dedicated to protection and restoration of native species and habitats of the Sky Island region of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Sergio Avila-Villegas spoke about a new campaign for large cats in the borderland region.
