University of Arizona students from El Coraje and Red Ink Magazine describe their work and their upcoming events. 30 Minutes features University of Arizona student journalism. Assistant Professor in the Department of Mexican American and Raza Studies Dr. Roberto Cintli Rodiriguez discusses MA&RS Class 496 The History of Red Brown Journalism. The class culminates with a conference entitled Combating Hate, Censorship, & Forbidden Curricula which will be held December 2-4 at the University of Arizona, YWCA, and El Rio Neighborhood Center. Students from The History of Red Brown Journalism will also unveil the latest edition of El Coraje at the conference. Tucson Chicano activists first published El Coraje in 1969 and 1970. El Coraje Editor Karina Salazar spoke about the significance of the paper today and her path to journalism. A complete schedule of the conference can be found here.

Red Ink Magazine Managing Editor Joe Quintana spoke about the 20th Anniversary celebration for the University of Arizona Native publication. On Friday, December 3rd from 6:30-9pm at the Arizona State Museum, Red Ink will showcase the 20th Anniversary issue, and have live artists, poets, drumming, a violinist, flute player and additional entertainers.
