ARTISTS FOR ACTION held a press conference along with Arizona's 7th District Congressman Raśl Grijalva to on July 8, 2010 at the Beowulf Alley Theatre in Tucson. Artists for Action is comprised primarily by Arizona artists to make sure that voters are educated about issues which they see as abridging civil rights. ARTISTS FOR ACTION's mission is to offer support and resources for artists who want to mobilize their fan base and promote civic activism.

SB 1070 is one of the laws that ARTISTS FOR ACTION is focusing on. SB 1070 requires law enforcement officials to make a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person whenever there is "reasonable suspicion" that the person is unlawfully present. It is scheduled to go in effect on July 29. At this writing, there are currently seven law suits filed against Arizona's SB 1070.

Speakers (in order of appearance) include Hotel Congress Entertainment Director David Slutes, Calexico drummer John Convertino, Phoenix musician Yolanda Bejarano of Snow Songs, Angel Sanchez of Democracia U.S.A, and Congressman Grijalva.

Although Grijalva is famously known as the public face of calling for a boycott of Arizona in opposition to SB 1070, he describe his support of ARTISTS FOR ACTION and the idea of a targeted boycott.
