Investigative journalist John Gibler spoke at the University of Arizona in an event sponsored by the Latin American Studies Student Organization, as part of the Binational Migration Institute Research Dialogues. John Gibler has been reporting from Mexico for years and his writing has been published widely. His most recent book, To Die in Mexico, takes the reader deep into the terrifying landscape of Mexico's drug war through the stories of journalists, human rights workers and everyday Mexicans trying to get by amid the violence. His talk was entitled "On the Political Uses of the Mexican Drug War."
