May 20th marked 520 weeks of a Thursday night community vigil at El Tiradito. Ten years ago, Derechos Humanos began the vigil to honor and recognize all victims of border policies. The vigil has regular attendants and people who are in town on related issues often stop by. 30 Minutes spoke with Cecile Lumer of the Migrant Resource Center in Naco, Sonora Cathleen Caron of the Global Workers Justice Alliance, Chuck Barrett of Catholic Relief Services, Erik Nicholson of the United Farm Workers, Axel Garcia from Mexico, and Teresa Leal from Nogales.
30 Minutes also features remarks made by Southside Presbyterian Minister Allison Harrington speaking at a press conference last month which was comprised of clergy in opposition to SB 1070.
