Growing Native with Petey Mesquitey- Valentine for Ms. Mesquitey I have been singing way too much around the ol' homestead. The dogs seem to like it, but everyone else, I'm not too sure. This simple melody wouldn't go away after I sang about the doggies and horses being hungry. I had to finish it, I guess, and what better time than Valentine's Day.

By the way, Arctostaphylos pungens is blooming as you read this. A hike in the chapparal above the desert floor to see the beautiful small flowers may be just the thing to do with your lover.
