Golden Columbines are easy to find in the moist shady canyons of our mountains. Sometimes a scientific name has a nice sound or rhythm and seems worth repeating. Certainly the name of the Golden Eagle, Aquila chrysaetos, has a nice sound to it.

Golden Columbines are easy to find in the moist shady canyons of our mountains. Those are places I bet you'll be seeking this summer. and in bloom it is pretty hard to miss with its bright yellow long spurred flowers. Once you've seen it you may find yourself repeating the beautiful rhythmic name Aquilegia chrysantha. It has a nice sound to it.
