Reap, 63, is a native of St. Louis. He received his law degree from St. Louis University Law School in 1970.
Immediately after graduation, Mr. Reap became an Assistant Public Defender for the City of St. Louis. In 1972, he accepted a Special Attorney position with the Justice Department's Office of Drug Abuse Law Enforcement. He joined the U.S. Attorney's office in 1973. In August 1992, Reap became First Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Hanaway was U.S. Attorney since 2005. She leaves to join former Missouri Governor John Danforth at a new law firm based in Kansas City. Hanaway will work out of the firm's St. Louis office.
