Dozens of Missouri communities will share $266 million for sewer and water infrastructure improvements.The money for the projects is to be split, with $146 million coming from the federal stimulus and $120 million from the state.
Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon announced the construction plan Monday. Nixon said it will improve important infrastructure and put people back to work.
Thirty-five cities and water districts are getting money for wastewater projects. Seventeen communities will get money for drinking water. The biggest wastewater project awards were $67 million for Columbia, $34 million for Blue Springs and $24 million for Kansas City.
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District will receive $11 million.
