Missouri lawmakers return to Jefferson City Wednesday for the annual veto session.
This year, the Missouri House will attempt to override a veto of legislation that would have created a special state fund to receive budget stabilization dollars from Washington.
Governor Jay Nixon said that the bill is unnecessary.
"I felt that once we had signed Senate Bill 313 back in '09 that we had a system of accounting, a system that [has] worked well, a system that has provided transparency," Nixon said.
The special fund would have given lawmakers more oversight into how federal dollars are spent.
House Speaker Ron Richard also wants to spend $209 million in Medicaid funding this year, and said that the money needs to go to doctors now.
Governor Nixon wants to hold that money in reserve for 2012, when federal dollars to Missouri are expected to dry up.
