Boone County Receives $350,000 from Stimulus
(2010-03-10)
(KBIA) - Boone County has received nearly all of the $350,000 it requested in stimulus money. County spokesperson Porcshe Moran says county commission officers had to beat an unusually short deadline to apply in January. She says the money will be used primarily for upgrades to county buildings and wastewater treatment plants.

"We're going to be using the money to do energy efficiency retrofits - changing out lights and boilers, heating, ventilation and cooling systems. Just changing everything to more energy efficient models that will reduce our energy use and also the cost of energy for all the buildings."

Moran says the efficiency improvements would reduce overhead costs, which would have a direct impact on county residents.
