Bond took to the floor of the Senate Thursday to voice his objections to the conventional criminal trial. He says the 9-11 terrorists should be tried before a military commission.

"It is an insult to the memories of those who were brutally murdered on September 11th that the perpetrator of these cowardly acts will sit in a courtroom blocks away from Ground Zero and reap the full benefits and protection of the U.S. constitution," Bond said.

Bond's fellow Missouri senator, Democrat Claire McCaskill, says she may not have made the same decision the President did, but she's confident Mohammed will be found guilty and sentenced to death. © Copyright 2010, St. Louis Public Radio
