Court approves new plea deal for Metro East attorney
(2008-08-21)
(St. Louis Public Radio) - A former Metro East lawyer accused of supplying drugs to young women and transporting a boy to California for sexual purposes has agreed to plead guilty only to federal drug charges.

According to a plea agreement, charges that Thomas Lakin took a minor boy from Illinois to California for sexual purposes will be dropped.

The agreement calls for Lakin to be fined $20,000 and to turn over $325,000 in lieu of forfeiting his residence.

If a judge approves the agreement, Lakin would also pay $180,000 in restitution to an Illinois charity.

While Lakin could face 20 years in prison, the plea agreement calls for a six year prison term. © Copyright 2012, St. Louis Public Radio
