North side residents continue to question McKee plan
(2008-06-06)

(St. Louis Public Radio) - If someone starting buying up house after house on your street with no explanation, you'd probably be asking a lot of questions. People on the near north side of St. Louis have been doing just that for more than five years.

In 2003, developer Paul McKee started quietly purchasing buildings and vacant lots north of downtown. He now owns more than 700.

McKee's critics say he's getting plenty of government aid, but remains secretive and unaccountable to the community.

Though they haven't received the answers they're seeking, north side residents say a meaningful dialogue is finally beginning. KWMU's Matt Sepic reports. © Copyright 2012, St. Louis Public Radio
