That hearing is the next step in the disciplinary process for George's refusal to make more than two dozen promotions.
Public Safety Director Charles Bryson sent George a letter this week, informing him that the disciplinary process is underway.
George has refused to make those promotions, even though he was ordered to do so, because he says the promotions test was racially biased. Mayor Francis Slay, though, says the promotions should be made because a judge recently ruled the test was fair.
The black firefighters' group FIRE will hold a rally at City Hall this afternoon in support of George. The local chapter of the NAACP has also come out in support of the chief.
George's lawyer has said the order to make the promotions is illegal, because only the chief can make such personnel moves.
