Siouxland Aging Services and Mercy Medical Center’s Older Adult Services continue to co-host First Friday Coffee: Welcome to Medicare. This unbiased, informative 2-hour seminar for new Medicare beneficiaries will be held on January 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 at Siouxland Aging Services, 2301 Pierce Street. Because this seminar has been so well received and attended we will be continuing the class indefinitely. Additional dates include the following afternoons (1:30-3:30): February 1, March 1 and April 5. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. There is no cost to attend. Assisting new beneficiaries to increase their understanding of Medicare is a combined effort of SHIIP programs (Senior Health Insurance Information Program), sponsored by both Mercy Medical Center and Siouxland Aging Services. Discussion topics will include who is eligible for benefits and timeframes for applying, understanding Medicare’s benefits and options, supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, prescription drug plans and protecting their Medicare benefits.
