Picasso? A Genius, but Kind of a Slob. Beethoven? Ditto. (Meet Elizabeth Lunday, Author of "Secret Lives of Great Artists" and "Secret Lives of Great Composers.")
(2010-01-11)
(kwgs) - On today's show, we speak with Elizabeth Lunday, a Texas-based journalist specializing in music, architecture, and art. She's the author of two funny, fact-filled works of "irreference" --- "Secret Lives of Great Artists" and "Secret Lives of Great Composers" (both published by Quirk Books). Lunday also writes the "Masterpieces" column for mental_floss magazine --- and she'll be appearing tomorrow night (Tuesday the 12th) at a "Book Smart Tulsa" event at the Philbrook Museum of Art. (For details on this event, please visit http://philbrook.org/education/public/descriptions.cfm.) You can learn much more about Lunday's books --- both of which combine anecdotal biography, comic-book illustration, and almanac-like statistics --- at these respective web pages: [http://irreference.com/secret-lives-of-great-composers/] and [http://irreference.com/secret-lives-of-great-artists/]. © Copyright 2012, kwgs
