Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School, a school that prepares students for college through a rigorous arts-infused program, is the recipient of this year’s annual Barnes and Noble Bookfair.
Community members can support the school by visiting the Woodland Plaza Barnes and Noble, located at 8620 E. 71st St., from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and presenting a designated voucher or mentioning Lighthouse at the register. The school could receive up to 25 percent of the day’s sales from customers who purchase books and present the voucher at the register.
Vouchers can be downloaded at www.facebook.com/GeorgeKaiserFamilyFoundation prior to the event or obtained at the Woodland Plaza location on Dec. 14.
Tulsa Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett, Jr. and Joy Hofmeister, president of Kumon of South Tulsa and Utica Square, will each choose a favorite childhood book to read aloud to the children of store customers throughout the day.
There are currently 330 students enrolled at the school from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade, and the school plans to add one grade per year until they reach grade 12.
