CMU Music Faculty Stephen Page will present an evening of original works for saxophone on Friday, February 21 at 7:30 pm in the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Works by Beffa, Canfield, Benson, Kaufmann and Yashimatsu will represent pieces written specifically for saxophone. Page will also present pieces transcripted from the violin repertoire by Faure and De Falla.
Described by noted American composer Libby Larsen as “fearless on stage,” Page has garnered international prominence as one of the leading saxophonists of today’s younger generation. As the Alto Saxophone chair of the critically acclaimed Zzyzx Quartet, Stephen has appeared internationally in venues both public and academic. In the summer of 2013, Zzyzx presented a headline concert at one of New York City’s most notable performance venues, Symphony Space, coinciding with the release of their second CD, “Intersections”. Page will be joined by Arthur Houle and Andrea Arese-Elias on piano.
