Against the brutally stiff competition of top chamber ensembles from across the globe, the young Altius Quartet dazzled judges at the International Plowman Chamber Music Competition last spring with their unique combination of virtuosity, youthful passion and down-home rollicking spirit, capturing first prize in this renowned competition.
Their program this season features the epic string quartet “Death and the Maiden” by Schubert, the hauntingly beautiful Dvorak Piano Quintet, assisted by pianist Kathryn Mientka, and a fascinating quartet by Philip Glass. Whether you are a string quartet aficionado, or have never experienced a classical quartet concert, you are sure to be thrilled by this dazzling group!
