The Colorado Mesa University Art Gallery presents "Figures and Sketches," an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Denver-based artist Paul Heaston.
Heaston paints and draws his immediate surroundings, from the people with whom he interacts to buildings and streets. He is an obsessive sketchbook-keeper and spent six months in 2008-9 meticulously drawing every building in downtown Bozeman, Montana in a pocket-sized sketchbook. Heaston is a correspondent for Urban Sketchers, an internationally known website showcasing visual journalism all over the world, and also maintains his own sketch blog, Three Letter Word for Art.
Heaston grew up in San Antonio, Texas and received his MFA in Painting from Montana State University. He currently lives in Denver with his wife Linda and their dog Freddie.
Exhibit dates: September 16 – October 11
On Friday, October 11, Heaston will give an Artist Talk at 5:00 pm, to be followed by a public reception to view the exhibit and meet the artist from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
