The community in the shadow of Sports Authority Field at Mile High (literally) is putting creating a "Living Street" on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The idea is not to block off the streets for a street fair, but it will have that festive kind of feel.
They want to demonstrate what a regular, sustainable, livable active street would look like. They will even occupy some of the empty storefronts with one-day "pop-up" vendors, and they will bring in some potted trees for a sidewalk caf atmosphere. There will be a small music stage, interactive art and fresh produce, too.
The idea came from Dallas, where the "Better Block" concept is about two years old and is already getting results.
Give a listen to this interview and visit the Jefferson Park neighborhood, Federal and 25th this Saturday for some ideas on what your community could be like. © Copyright 2017, kuvo
