Since its inception, the annual Longmont Jazz Festival has featured performances by the finest jazz musicians in the Denver metro area. The Festival presents diverse styles of jazz ranging from traditional through big band swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin jazz.
11:00-11:45 a.m. - Longmont All Star Jazz Band - The Longmont All Star Jazz Band is comprised of the top jazz students in the Longmont area. Students audition to be in the band. There are seven different high schools represented in the All Stars.
11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Clinic with Paul Romaine and the Longmont Jazz All Stars - Paul Romaine has led, recorded, or performed with countless combinations of the Denver area's best players and with many internationally acclaimed artists. He is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, and serves on the music faculty of CU-Boulder and Metropolitan State University.
12:45-1:45 p.m. - Big Swing Trio - The Big Swing Trio is steeped in the jazz tradition, yet pushes the boundaries in all directions!
2:00-3:00 p.m. - James Barela Quintet - Jazz musician James Barela's music has been defined as genre-bending, eclectic, engaging and imaginative. The music certainly is modern jazz fused with world music and contemporary musical trends.
3:15-4:15 p.m. - What's Cookin' Jazz Band - Denver natives Larry Campbell and Gene Smookler formed the band in 2009 with the best jazz talent in the Mile High City. This 10-piece band covers the entire spectrum of jazz from Bebop to Swing, Standards, Blues, Funk and more.
4:30-5:30 p.m. - Alfredo Muro Latin Jazz Ensemble - Amazing five piece band that explores different moods from exciting Latin Jazz, sambas, and bossa novas with jazzy inflections, to romantic and sentimental melodies and classical style, illustrated by lead guitarist Alfredo Muro's dazzling and sensitive technique.
5:45-6:45 p.m. - Fat City Mardi Gras Band - Think of Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, and you're almost there! Fat City Mardi Gras Band blends the best of the Fat Tuesday celebration music to make you wiggle in your seat.
