Harvard Professor of Humanities Stephen Greenblatt's book, "The Swerve: How the World Became Modern," was awarded a 2011 National Book Award and a 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction. The Pulitzer board described it as "a provocative book arguing that an obscure work of philosophy (the Roman Lucretius' On the Nature of Things), discovered nearly 600 years ago, changed the course of history by anticipating the science and sensibilities of today." He is also the author of "Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare."
