Obama Takes Aim at McCain in Reno
RENO, NV
(KUNR) -
Sunday's event lacked the rock concert quality of Mr. Obama's previous visits to Reno, and senator Obama took advantage of the almost intimate setting to contrast his policies with those of John McCain on healthcare, tax cuts, energy and perhaps most forcefully on the negative tone of the Republican's campaign.
Obama: And basically what John McCain's done is he's hired the same old folks who brought you George W. Bush. Same team. And it's the same strategy. They don't have something positive about what they're going to do for America. What they try to do is say this other guy, he's unpatriotic. Or this other guy, he likes French people.' That's what said about Kerry. They try to make it out like somehow Democrats aren't tough enough or aren't macho enough. That's their strategy. And they do it every four years. And then you end up with what we've got right now. I've got news for John McCain, my plan's not going to bring about economic disaster. We've already got economic disaster. From John McCain's president George W. Bush. And we can't afford another 4 years or 8 years of George W. Bush policies. And that's why we're going to beat John McCain in this election to put America on a new path.
During his 21 minute speech, Senator Obama repeatedly tried to connect John McCain with the policies of George W Bush. After his address he took a half dozen questions or so from a devoted audience. It's been reported that following the event senator Obama paid a surprise visit to PJ & Company restaurant on Wells Avenue in Reno. The latest polling data shows Obama and McCain running neck and neck in Nevada.
