Tornadoes in Nevada !
RENO, NV
(KUNR) -
Monday afternoon beginning around 3:50, Dopler radar images confirmed what the National Weather Service Office in Reno was hearing from weather spotters. Meteorologist Jane Holingsworth says Churchill and Lyon counties saw some unusual weather.
Hollingsworth: The most significant report we've received is a report of a tornado on the ground near Lohantan reservoir and just West of Fallon. And radar signatures would indicate that there was another storm that moved to the East of Fallon that also most likely had tornado associated with it. We've gotten numerous reports of funnel clouds and quite a few reports of at least marble sized, dime sized, nickel sized hail associated with these storms.
There have been no reports of property damage or injury, but meteorologist Hollingsworth says tornadoes are rare weather events for Nevada. The last confirmed report of a tornado in the Silver State was in August of 2003 near Pyramid Lake.
