Otilio Ruiz has been playing since the age of 13; he studied at the Music Conservatory in Xalapa in the Mexican state of Veracruz, and is a former member of the international companies Tlen-Huicani, at the University of Veracruz, and Achilzavata, based in Paris. He currently teaches music at Coronado Elementary School. The musical director of La Rondalla de Alburquerque, he is a virtuoso on the arpa jarocho, a wooden harp from Veracruz, and has performed at many NHCC events.
